A stye is a red, painful bump that appears near the edge of the eyelid, often resembling a pimple. It’s caused by an infection in the oil glands or hair follicles of the eyelid.
1. Bacterial infection, most commonly Staphylococcus aureus
2. Blocked oil glands at the base of an eyelash or inside the eyelid
3. Risk factors include:
Apply for 10–15 minutes, 3–4 times a day to help the stye drain and heal.

Gently clean the eyelid with warm water and mild soap or a commercial eyelid cleanser.
Most styes resolve on their own, but antibiotic ointments or drops may be prescribed if infection spreads.
If the stye doesn't improve in a few days, becomes very painful, or affects vision, your doctor may drain it.
